Eight out of 12 members (2/3) was in favour of justice Yahya Afridi. •As per new amendment the selection will be made through 2/3 majority. Introduction; •Born on 23 January 1965 in Kohat. •Appointed as an Additional Judge of the Peshawar High Court in 2010. •He also took the oath as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court in 2016. •He became the judge in Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2018. Current designation; Justice Yahya Afridi is newly designated honorable cheif justice of Pakistan. He replaced justice Qazi Faiz Essa who is now former cheif justice of Pakistan. •Yahya Afridi is the first cheif justice who belongs to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. •He will serve as CJP for three years i.e: 2027 Retirement: 22 January 2030
